Multipurpose venue will meet civic needs in Beaverton – Mayor Denny Doyle

Beaverton has a unique opportunity to consider. It’s not just whether or not to move forward with a potential multipurpose community venue that could be home to Triple-A baseball. The decision is whether or not we’re ready to invest in Beaverton.
For the past two years the city has been engaging the people of Beaverton in a public dialogue about their vision for our community. Throughout the Beaverton Community Vision project, we heard — loud and clear — that there is a tremendous desire for a central gathering place and a dynamic downtown.
As a mayor and taxpayer who sees firsthand the economic challenges that Beaverton is facing, I believe that it’s more important than ever that we pursue opportunities to put people to work today and revitalize our community for our children. We must take action on the vision that our residents have laid out for us as leaders.
Making tough decisions is not for the faint of heart. It’s challenging. But sitting on the sidelines is not an option. It’s time to invest in our future.
